On some of the kimonos i've bought (from Ichiroya of corse) there is a lot of basting. I don't know what to do with it, leave it or take it out??? Why is it there? What are you supposed to do with it??

Theresar,
The basting is there for storage purposes. So the seams dont unfold or become crooked. You can remove them if you plan to wear or display your kimono. If you keep them in storage for long periods of time I would reccomend leaving them in(because my skill with a needle is extremely limited and I cant re-sew the basting stitches..)
