I think that I mentioned before that I am engaged and will be getting married soon. My fiance and I have decided to have a traditional Japanese style wedding (even though I'm American and he's half Korean .
I was hoping someone could inform me of what the entire outfit includes. I know of the Uchikake, tsunokakushi, the mirror case (the name slips my mind), kakeshita, and a fan. What am I missing? What kind of zouri are worn? What kind of fan is held (for both parties)? What layers am I missing? Is there a special set of kanzashi (hair ornaments)?
I considered a wig but figured the black hair would look strange with my westener complection. I have a detailed illustration on the way to tie the hair for weddings and hopefully I can find someone who can do it.
I know how to tie the tateya musubi for under uchikake but I don't know what design the maru obi should have. Is it all white or does it have the traditional subtile colors characteristic of maru obi?
Is the kakeshita actually worn under the uchikake? I see so many layers in the photos but I never see a kakeshita that is as colorful as the ones sold here. What exactly are all those layers and in what order?
I already know a woman, Mary Ohno, who I could get to dress me in my uchikake, if I can't figure it out myself. I just really need help finding all the pieces I need to complete the outfit. I would like to rent it but finding someone who rents kimono in North Western U.S. is nearly impossible.
What I'm asking is could you help me find everything I need to make my wedding perfect? I prefer pheonix motifs but I'm willing to take what ever there is that is cheap enough for me to buy. I am severly poor right now and want the cheapest iteams possible. Can you help me? I need entire outfits for shiromuku, irouchikake, and oburisode for second showing, and a hakama set for my husband-to-be.
I greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me.
Arigatou gozaimashita.
