I paid way too much for a very pretty and very stained kakeshita at an antique store, but my goal was to get it cleaned by professionals and rescue it. That's my plan. I love the soft, shiny rinzu silk.
THis is a unique kakeshita! It's 55" long with 36" long sleeves. This kimono is light like a furisode, but is padded at the hem. Interesting huh!

Hi Akihito89,
I'm not sure what a kakenutsa is. Who would have worn it originally? Could you please upload a picture, or describe it more... In any case I think we'd all like to know if the professional cleaning works.
Happy New Year to everyone on the board!
Best, AndyZ

I don't know where the "kakenutsa" is coming from! I'm typing " kakeshita" (k a k e s h i t a) I must be being hacked or something.

So you're trying to say you have a kakeshita, right? Bridal kimono?

Well, Akihito89 ... looks like it might be the Ichiroya message board that's hacked, not your computer! I just typed out the word (k a k e s h i t a) and it looked fine. But as soon as I clicked the Post button, lo and behold, the uploaded version rendered the word as (k a k e n u t s a) Wei-i-i-i-ird.... Atsa nutsa hack!!!

THe internet is being very uncooperative tonight. A 5 min. e-mail check is a 1/2 hour battle just to see if someone e-mailed me!
Yeah, it's the souped up furisode type kimono that goes under a iro-uchikake (or in my case, shiromuku). shiromukus are my favorate!

*cough* It's not hacked, it's just the filter... because "k a k e s h i t a" has the word "s h i t" in it, and that's considered a foul word... so they filter it out and change it into "nuts" instead... that's how you get you kakenutsa...

Happy New Year! Thanks Andy Sounds like a nice find Akihito89, I hope the cleaning will work, please tell us if it does. I have to ask though, are you sure you found/bought a kakeshi-ta? 55" sounds a bit short to me, usually kakeshi-ta would be at least 70" because you need the drag, and there would be a second (half) layer. Like this one Ichiroya has on eBay right now: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=29452&item=3262286263It could be a shi-tagasane, the extra kimono layer. Kimono used to consist of more layers, so nagajuban and over that there would go at least two kimono, the under layers called shi-tagasane. These are quite hard to find, so maybe you found a furisode shi-tagasane? Could you show pictures? That would help a lot. (I put a Eeverywhere between the shi and the t hopefully this will trick the filter, I never heard of that, I think it is funny

Looks like someone has tweaked the filter. If you look at the earlier posts in this thread, all mentions of "kakenutsa" have been changed to "kakeshia"...
(Well, at least it's closer now!)

Sorry it's been a while. Life's been quite chaotic. Well it looks like a short kakeshita. If it is some rare thing, I'm gonna hang onto it! Do you think it's valuable? I tried to wash it (bad idea) It turned pink. I did get lots of stains out (there are still some stains to fight. I want to either make the pink uniform (not blochy) or make it pure white or extremely light pink. along with nailing the stains. Do you think that's advisable?
