I have been deliberating on getting a shiromuku as of late. I didn't like the all-one-white-color of it before, but they are slowly starting to grow on me. I would probably never wear it, because white is not a becoming color on me, but I will most likely be displaying it on a wall or possibly as a very interesting bedcover for guests. I haven't decided on whether I would like one that is embroidered or woven.
From those of you who have shiromuku, or just really like them, what are the good aspects of either embroidered or woven? Also, I have seen shiromuku with iridiescent threads woven in....does anyone have one like that, and if you do, how does it look?

I have a shiromuku. They're my favorate to colect. I try to grab them wherever I find them. I don't know why I love shiromukus, but I do. It's the colorful uchikakes that I like less. Don't get me wrong I like them and they're great pieces of art, but it's the shiromuku that I go for. Mine is hand-made and is yusen silk. It is lightly embroidered and has damask weaving which go thgeather and give this kimono an awesome texture. You'd be surprised how much detail and atristic expressing goes into an all-white garment. It's nothing like American wedding gowns. When I get married, we're wearing kimonos or I'm not getting married! I've thought about wearing a kariginu and hakama just so I can be wearing something showy too. I don't guess that I could wear a shiromuku being a guy. What do you think.
