CHANGES In the near future you can expect some changes on this board. Obviously not all the alterations will please everyone, but for the most part, any change should be superficial (and not absolutely permanent). We are trying to revive/foster the community that once gathered here, so we ask for everyone's participation. This forum exists for your benefit if you have an interest in kimono. You are all invited to respond to any and all existing postings. Otherwise, you can create one of your own. [Normal rules of politeness and civility apply to all postings]. If you are reluctant to contribute your voice to our chorus (for whatever reason), please address your private concerns to myself. You can send a message internally if you are a registered member. I will offer whatever advice or direction I can. Daikan

As many of our frequent visitors will have noticed, the colors have been changed to 'brighten' up the appearance of the pages and inject visual interest in the look of the topic list. If you don't like the color scheme ( ), wait a bit. It may change of its' own accord ( ). Another superficial change I'm planning will occur in early December. I've sent a message to all members to inform them that their membership listing will be deleted if they do not respond to the contrary. I'm doing this to condense a cumbersome five-page list into something more useful for each member's use [i.e. e-mailing a fellow member within this forum]. I've made an exception for any member, who has posted a message sometime in the past (wether he/she is still a visitor here). Naturally, not all those e-mail addresses will be current. I'm hoping the scheduled paring of the list will promp our absentee members to re-visit us and update their profiles. If anyone's listing is inadvertently deleted, and they wish to reinstate themself, there is no restriction in doing so. Registration is only required if one wishes to post messages. This limitation should prevent non-members from posting solicitations (as in pleas for money and/or buying and selling personal items). We have had a few occasions when this has occured, and this measure should prevent such casual postings. For my part, I will regularly (every few days) scrutinize this board for such messages and delete them. My role is not to censor anyone, but rather to support an open exchange of views. To that end, whatever detracts from that aim or strays from the larger context of this Forum, will be called into question. Daikan P.S. From time to time, I'll add postings on the site's features. These will be enable people to customize their postings in useful way. The first topic will be on "Searching".

SEARCH FEATURE As promised, I want to offer a few tips to all our visitors. When you have a question to pose, may we suggest that you first try the "Search" function displayed at the top of every screen. Your question may have been answered in the past. If so, you can get an immediate answer by using this feature. Select the 'Search" feature and specif appropriate key words, all the postings that feature that identical word or phrase in its' initial heading will appear. Of course, like any other search feature, the more expansive the criterion, the fewer results you'll get. Whereas, a single key word will probably give you the most complete result (though too many responses may not be a good thing either). If you like, you can also search for all the postings for any member. If you select the "member" icon first, you can call up all his/her postings. This feature is helpful if you want to check what you've posted in the past (so you don't contradict yourself ;D. Daikan P.S. Next: [glow=red,2,300] PROFILES[/glow]

As I indicated on 11/17, I've now deleted all "members" who have never posted a message here. That reduced the member list to 3 pages (instead of the previous 5).
It should now be easier to seach for an active member if you prefer to direct a private e-mail to them or correspond on non-kimono related subjects.
I trust everyone will make use of the revamped list.

Dear Members,
The newly created headings were established to group similar threads into a generally coherent topic for the benefit of our guests. Also, it should prove useful to a member, if one is trying to locate an old postings, but is uncertain of the exact name of the thread. Now you can narrow down your possibilities to a single heading.
Postings can still be created and replies made under the "General Forum" heading. However, new threads will periodically be moved to a more specific heading in an effort to keep the ongoing focus of the discussion relevant.
Now that the Forum has been revamped, some mention in the way one accesses the newest postings is in order. All registered members can create a new thread or offer a response within any existing heading. However, the "General Forum" heading will not necessarily show the most recent postings.
To find them (regardless of which heading they appear under), select the "ten most recent" postings below the headings list. The selection is just above the feature that lists which member (if any) is currently surfing the site. Otherwise, you could scan every heading for its' most recent responses.

As part of annual maintainence procedures, I have deleted the names of any resigtered member, who has not posted a reply within the last calendar year.
This procedure is intended to keep the Member's List pared down, in order to speed up searches and the like. If you recently joined, and have not posted anything so far, I do apologize. You can re-register as before. This procedure will eliminate multiple lisitings by a single party.
If you have any comments regarding this procedure, please e-mail me directly.
