ROUTINE
MAINTAINANCE
From time to time message threads will move from one Category to another. The intent behind this effort is to collect disparate threads together __ into some larger category (presumably, to make it easier for anyone to find). This is done primarily for the benefit of our new readers. It permits them to selectively read in one area of interest, rather than a more haphazard approach.
This kind of revision will occur prehaps every three months, so infrequent changes should minimize frustration over misplaced threads. At least the most recent thread will always be at the top of its' category. In addition, if you authored a reply, you can locate the thread where it exists, by using the members function and reviewing all your messages.
Because of human nature, not all replies will be entirely on the mark, all the time! Nevertheless, all replies are permanently tied to the thread where it was created. Therefore, I'll need to judge where the entire thread should be go, although several topics may be covered within it.
Ideally, whoever starts a thread should be the sole arbiter of where the thread belongs. However, any thread can go off on a tangent and foil that intent. This is perhaps the only way my administrative functions allow me to respond to such developments.
If anyone has strong objections to this procedure, I'll be happy to consider their concerns. You may either send an e-mail or post your concerns here.
Daikan
P.S. The function appears to be very stable, so no messages should be lost as a result of switching threads.
