can you translate this pic? I think it looks cool, but don't know what it's saying. It looks liek a guy yin a shiromuku set. I found this pic when doing a yahoo image search for JApanese bride pics. One thing I like to do is fill as many gigs of space as possible with kimono pics! Thanks

I don't read Japanese, but I thought I'd give it a try with my handy hiragana and Kanji references...
The first character - ‰Å - is Kanji, pronounced yo-me, and apparently means "bride" - and also "married into", according to one page I read. (The first element in the word - — - is "woman", onna. The character for woman is the same in Chinese, which is how I recognized it.)
The other three characters are hiragana: ‚¬‚Ü‚·. As far as I can make out, they say: gi-ma-su. No idea what these mean when taken together.
However, according to the @nifty translator, the WHOLE phrase ‰Å‚¬‚Ü‚· means "it [he? she?] is married."
None of which explains why the figure appears to be a man dressed in bridal wear, unfortunately... Akihito, can you say where you found the picture? That might give us some clue.

Here you go! www4.point.ne.jp/~honenuki/html/b/yome.htmI can't get the Japanese text to display. I just get a bunch of question marks like ' ??h' I'm gonna try and load it in powerpoint. Once, I saw a car commercial where a guy was wearing a wedding dress and talking about how buying a car is liek a serious commitment. It was funny. This other guy says 'Dude, you are seriously freaking me out!'. It was funny. Iven though it does look like a guy in bridal wear, it doesn't look so freaky like if I saw I guy in a wedding gown with a veil. It looks kinda cool, like a noble warrior or something. What do you think? Of course, we'll need to find out what the site is actually saying.

Here's the webpage after being run through the @nifty translator: tinyurl.com/5v5a2Not that the translation tells us much, either... if you can find someone who can read Japanese, that might be best. If you ever need to use the @nifty translator, this is the homepage for it: www.nifty.com/globalgate/From here you can convert Japanese to English - or vice versa. To translate: - Use the URL box at the top of the page to translate a Japanese page into English (select the second option on the drop-down menu).
- Or, translate a pasted block of text using the large field on the lower part of the page (again, select the drop-down menu's second option).
- The first option in both menus is English-to-Japanese translation, so if you want to translate in the opposite direction, use that selection instead.

The translation makes no sense. It only causes more curiousity.

Well, if you click the link underneath the picture of the person in shiromuku (the link says "Tsugi" and has an arrow next to it), this takes you to the next page in the sequence. If you want to go directly to it, the TinyURL for this additional page is: tinyurl.com/4wbt9This new page shows what is evidently the same person (shock of hair, large earring in right ear), but this time she? is wearing a Western-style bridal gown. I am honestly not sure whether these two pictures depict a female bride, or a guy. Could be a woman of course - the "masculinity" of the figure may just be the artist's way of drawing people. As you say - the @nifty translation doesn't do much to clarify things!

The 'bride' in the American-style dress is very masculine, but the dress is less compatable with the figure. Look at the arms in the wedding dress pic! The're huge and bulging with muscles!

...
(not too sure whether I should explain this)
Okay, urm the site this comes from is a fan illustration site for what seems to be a boy-love series. If you see it in japanese you will see the word Bl (which stands for Boy-love).
In animemanga circles this indicates a homosexual (gay) site.
That will probably explain why it's a guy wearing a shiromuku.
Yeah. =_=. hope that helps.

I think Kagrra sounds awesome. They do wear really beautiful kimonos very incorrectly, but they still rock. I love their sound! I need that music! I think I'll start 'kimono-rock' a sub-genre of rock with its own unique sound, and kimono wearing.
