I received my katsura today! I'm thrilled! ;D I've opened the box and was relieved to see that it survived the 5 week journey from Japan in excellent health. Right now it's on the stand being aired. There's a strange odor coming from the katsura which I think is the oil used to style it. Before I attempt to pry it off the stand, does anyone have any tips on handling katsura? How do I take it off the stand will help. It's firmly on the stand and I don't want to rip anything off by mistake trying to handle it. Also, I plan on adding kanzashi, or hair ornaments, to it someday, since I found a wonderful girl who makes them traditional style. Any tips on placing them inthe katsura and removing them without damage? Thanks!

Hey! Arenft they just wonderful, the katsura? I love them!
The smell will not go, mainly because it is oil based, so it will not evaporate in the air. But I hope for you the smell will get less (mine always smelled and still smells the same, I kind of like it)
To wear, first you need to untie the strings in front. Then you take the wig in the back, I think it is best to hold the wig on the paper that is wrapped around the wig, there where all hair seems to come together. Then you put the strings in the wig and bring to your head. You probably will need to wiggle it a little, it is best to bring it from forehead and then pull it back. Then to adjust you put your hands in the side gwingsh the two bows next to your face and adjust the wig until it is firmly on your head. I always try not to though the actual hair, it is kind of hard, but do able and it will keep your wig nice.
Itfs hard to explain without showing, but I hope this made some sense ^_^
Bye, Ume
